A 'Day of Hope' for Year 12 Students

04 February 2025

John Paul College’s Year 12 students began their final year with an inspiring and transformative session led by Glen Gerreyn, Co-Founder of The HopeFull Institute. Through his ‘Day of Hope’ presentation, Glen delivered a powerful message of positivity, resilience, and self-belief, encouraging students to reflect on how external influences and their own mindset impact their choices.

With experience speaking to over a million people worldwide, Glen shared his personal story and insights, empowering students to recognise negativity, overcome challenges, and tap into their unique talents. His presentation provided them with valuable tools to approach their final year with renewed purpose and hope.

The impact of Glen’s session was profound, as expressed by the students themselves:

I couldn't have asked for a better time in my life for you to be there on that day. You've left me in such a better place I'm still stuck trying to comprehend it and you can bet whatever money might be in that wallet your time at John Paul College will stick with me for the entirety of life.

I just wanted to say thank you for today. It felt like you were talking directly to me. I’ve been wanting all my life to hear someone say the things you said today. The messages I took from you today inspired me more than I ever thought words could. Thank you again.”

I wanted to email saying thank you. Everyone I have talked to loved your talk and I personally found it enthralling. You've really mastered the art of speaking and inspiring youths and I am in awe of how much you have done in your life and am ever so grateful that you conquered your gift, your talent and used it for good. As you know you have changed many people's lives, mine included because you took away all the complication of motivation and the stress of trying to figure out who you are as a young person. You really help a lot of people sort out things and put life into perspective. Thank you so much for what you do and being who you are. You made the hope mean a whole lot more.

I had the privilege of hearing your story and your advice today. Firstly I wanted to tell you how grateful I am and thank you for your words of wisdom. I feel like you were sent from God to tell me what I needed to hear. My whole life I have been living to make everyone around me happy and I have given up everything I have ever loved or gave me purpose. I was so scared of even the thought of failing. But hearing you talk took some of my fear. May God bless you, thank you for everything you do!

I found your words not only inspiring, moving and explosive but also found uncomfortable things can be a comforting factor for meaningful change and hope.

I really appreciated your talk at JPC yesterday and your ability to be captivatingly knowledgeable, and honest about the truth of how one must commit in life to achieve their dreams. I thank you on behalf of my whole cohort for speaking yesterday. I thank you on behalf of the people who felt touched by your message and decided to make change. I thank on behalf of those who feel nervous to make change but you gave them the push. Thank you!
