Embracing the magic of reading during Book Week

23 August 2024

Book Week 2024 cast a spell over the College as students embraced the enchanting theme, 'Reading is Magic.' The Resource Centre was transformed into a vibrant, Harry Potter-themed space of creativity and wonder, filled with activities designed to spark the imagination and inspire a deeper love for reading.

Throughout the week, students engaged in a variety of magical events. The Makerspace buzzed with activity as students used their creativity to craft magical items, bringing the theme to life through hands-on projects.

The Book Week activities have given me such joy and a thing to always look forward to every single day. The escape room was so much fun as the activities were inspired by Harry Potter. As a Harry Potter fan I was happy seeing the references in the puzzles. Another activity was the Makerspace, which was extremely fun as well.

Fans of Harry Potter also competed eagerly in a quiz testing their knowledge of the series, while others engaged in an exhilarating game of Quidditch Ping Pong. Another memorable part of the week was the daily mystery hunt, where students searched for the hidden Harry Potter Elf on the Shelf, adding a fun and interactive element to the festivities.

Beyond the fun and games, Book Week celebrated the joy of reading and learning. The activities encouraged students to explore new stories, exercise their imagination, and deepen their connection with literature. The Resource Centre became a bustling hub of excitement and discovery, making Book Week 2024 a resounding success and a cherished event for all who took part.
