John Paul College students shine bright with a stellar second place at Teen Chef!

02 August 2024

For the second year in a row, John Paul College proudly hosted the annual Southern Independent Schools (SIS) Teen Chef Competition in our state-of-the-art Food Technology building. Our skilled JPC team was joined by talented chefs from nine other SIS schools, coming together to showcase a vibrant array of student creativity and culinary skills.

Participants were challenged to prepare dishes fitting the theme of citrus, and their hard work was evident in their presentations. JPC Year 11 students Quinn and Daniel prepared a main dish of grilled lemon octopus with cous cous salad and white bean hummus, while Ella-Grace and Anna crafted a blood orange meringue tart for the dessert dish.

The competition was judged by esteemed chefs from the Australian Culinary Federation, who evaluated the dishes based on presentation, taste, and technique. The innovative combinations and sophisticated techniques on display earned high praise from the judges.

We are thrilled to announce the winners of this year’s competition:

1st place: Flinders Christian College
2nd place: John Paul College
3rd place: Nazareth College

Each team dedicated extensive hours to perfecting their creations, reflecting their commitment and passion for cooking. Congratulations to all participants for their incredible efforts and dedication. The competition was a true celebration of young culinary talent and creativity, and we look forward to seeing even more impressive dishes and achievements in future Teen Chef events!
