Year 7 Activities Week

26 February 2024

In Week 4, our Year 7 students participated in an adventurous, exhilarating and joyous Activities Week. This week provides students with the opportunity to bond as a cohort and develop relationships with their fellow classmates and staff outside of a classroom environment.

Monday through to Wednesday, our Year 7 cohort rotated through an array of enjoyable activities including a Retreat program, in which they learnt about the history of the College and their Houses, created a class banner and participated in get to know games.

Students also wrote letters to their future Year 12 selves and participated in a Liturgy.

I really enjoyed the Retreat program, because it gave us an opportunity to reflect, pause and spend time making new friends. I was able to learn about the History of John Paul College and the four houses and the founders.

Students ventured to the Enchanted Maze Garden for a day, running through hedge mazes, tube sliding and soaring amongst the treetops. A trip to Luna Park took place on the Thursday, where Year 7 students took part in rides including the Pirate Ship, Silly Serpent and the Scenic Railway. To conclude the week, Year 7 students visited Gumbuya World. From water slide splashes to lazy river cruises, from adrenaline-pumping roller coaster rides to making furry friends, Gumbuya World was a great deal of fun!

We hope our Year 7s enjoyed their activities week and were able to create new, long-lasting friendships and memories with their fellow classmates.

My favourite part of activities was getting to go to Luna Park with all my friends and classmates. I made a new friend when I was on one of the rides. I also really enjoyed making the Class banner in the Retreat program
