NAPLAN 2025 information for parents

07 February 2025

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) for Year 7 and 9 students will take place in March 2025. The NAPLAN Online test window is scheduled from Wednesday 12 March to Monday 24 March. These assessments evaluate student knowledge and skills in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar, and punctuation), and numeracy. The results provide valuable insights for students, parents, teachers, and school leadership to support student learning and achievement.

Student Participation and Support
All students are expected to participate in the NAPLAN Online tests. Catch-up tests will be available for students who are absent on test days up to and including Monday 24 March.

Support can be arranged for students with disabilities if they regularly use similar assistance for classroom assessments. Exemptions may be granted to students with significant intellectual disabilities or those who have been learning English for less than one year. Parents seeking support or exemptions should contact Lauren Moore, Head of Middle School – Learning, or the Year 7 and 9 case managers by Friday 28 March. Parental consent is required before any support due to disability or exemption is granted.

What Students Need to Bring
Students must bring their fully charged devices for NAPLAN testing. If a student will not have access to their own device during this period, please notify the school in advance, as spare devices are limited. Students will also need headphones, which should be tested beforehand. Additionally, they may bring a drink bottle, pencil, and a novel to read once they complete their test.

Test Schedule
The NAPLAN testing schedule will be communicated to families via email. Catch-up testing will be available from Tuesday 18 March through to Monday 24 March.
