Stewart Centre for Individual Learning (SCIL) Team

The Stewart Centre provides support services to ensure that all students can access age-appropriate learning and wellbeing activities. We recognise that diversity encompasses cultural, academic, social, emotional, and physical attributes, and we aim to support students of all abilities through inclusive education.

Our staff identifies and addresses the unique learning needs of each student, which may range from intellectual, social, and emotional to motivational, time management, and organisational skills.

We offer programs in Literacy, Numeracy, Spelling/Writing, and Organisational Skills to empower our students with essential skills for life beyond John Paul College. We work collaboratively with parents, Wellbeing leaders, Pastoral Care teachers, and subject teachers to support the academic progress and wellbeing of our students.

Our model of support includes:

  • In-Class Support: 1:1, small group, and point-of-need assistance to enhance classroom learning.
  • Macquarie Lit Literacy Intervention
  • Maths Mastery Intervention
  • Spelling Through Morphographs and Writing Intervention
  • Learning Management Skills
  • Lunchtime Socialising and Music Club: Encouraging positive social interactions during lunch breaks through board games, collaborative activities, singing, and dancing.
  • Organisation: Provides organisational support with locker, learning and materials/equipment.

The Stewart Centre is a welcoming and safe space for all students. Together, we strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment that fosters growth and success for every student.
