Make a difference by supporting our Caritas Project Compassion fundraiser

19 February 2025

John Paul College is proud to once again support Caritas Project Compassion this Lent, continuing our tradition of raising awareness and funds to help vulnerable communities worldwide. This year, we’re organising several fundraising events, including a Shrove Tuesday pancake event ($2 donation) for students and a fundraising morning tea for staff. Donation boxes will also be placed in all pastoral rooms to encourage ongoing contributions until the 31 May 2025.

Project Compassion is an annual fundraising campaign by Caritas Australia that takes place during Lent, aiming to alleviate poverty, promote justice, and uphold dignity through various initiatives. Since 1965, Australians have supported this vital cause, making it one of the longest-running charity campaigns in the country.

This year’s theme, Unite Against Poverty, calls on all Australians to come together to make a powerful impact. Funds raised help support Caritas Australia's mission to end poverty and create a world where all people live with dignity and equality. Over the decades, Caritas Australia has provided long-term support for communities affected by disasters, conflicts, and poverty, helping with education, health services, job training, and more.

With predictions that poverty rates will rise due to the impact of COVID-19, Caritas Australia’s work is more crucial than ever. By supporting Project Compassion, we can help empower communities in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the Pacific, and continue the legacy of supporting those in need.

We encourage all members of the John Paul College community to participate in our fundraising efforts and unite with us in making a meaningful difference.
