Cultural Appreciation This term we celebrated the cultural diversity in our College community.We had a group of Year 10 students attend the Multicultural Youth Conference hosted by Endevour Youth, we had our Multicultural afternoon at St. John's Primary school and we celebrated Harmony week within the pastoral program, inviting students to wear a bracelet, badge, necklace or earring that represented their cultural ethnicity. Holy Week Liturgy The College came together to mark the end of Term 1 with a special Holy Week Liturgy. Come along to the JPC After School Study Program The John Paul College, After School Study Program helps students with their study and homework needs, four afternoons a week during Term time. Experienced tutors, are on hand each week to assist with assignments, enhance organisational skills, and provide general study guidance. The program is located in the Resource Centre, Monday to Thursday 3.00pm – 4.30pm. The program follows a self-directed approach, where academic Tutors interact with students individually or in small groups for collaborative learning sessions. Continue Reading
Murray River Camp The College’s Units 3 and 4 Outdoor and Environmental Studies students embarked on a 4-day journey along the Murray River. Students paddled 51km from Barmah to Echuca, learning about the recreational, conservational and economic relationships people have with the Murray River. Students also reflected on the relationship and connection the traditional owners, the Yorta Yorta people, continue to have with the environment. Compost Program At John Paul College, we hold the belief that each individual has a part to contribute to Climate Action and the reduction of emissions. Schools, in particular, bear a responsibility as they are tasked with cultivating the leaders and influencers of tomorrow.A significant source of emissions stems from the disposal of food waste in landfills. Cross Country Carnival The College hosted the much-anticipated House Cross Country Carnival this week! It was a day filled with spirited competition as students from each year level gave their all, contributing valuable points to their Houses. With resolute determination, they completed two laps around the College grounds. The final standings crowned Chaminade as the winners, closely pursued by Turner, D'Houet, and Olsen House.Well done to all students!
