Our Year 12 VCE Vocational Major (VM) students have recently participated in two unique and enriching excursions, each offering valuable learning experiences beyond the classroom.
As part of their Numeracy abstract painting project, students enjoyed a guided tour of Frankston’s vibrant street art. With the sun shining, they explored large-scale murals and creative works that brought new perspectives to familiar surroundings.
The tour sparked inspiration for their upcoming collaboration with residents from Skye Lodge Aged Care Facility.“It provided me with a new perspective of the Frankston area,” Lochie shared.“Being on this tour has given us ideas and inspiration for future projects in Numeracy and PDS with Skye Lodge,” Sienna added.
It was a day full of creativity, inspiration, and fun as students explored the artistic side of their local community.
The students also visited the Frankston RSL to interview four veterans — Bec Marson, Sarah Archibald, Blake Ridge, and Mark Archibald — as part of a biography project. The veterans shared powerful stories of service, resilience, and sacrifice, leaving a lasting impression on the students.
“It was good for Bec Marson to tell her story from her perspective. She was so brave to relive those tragic moments,” Arabella reflected.“It was an eye-opening opportunity to meet Sarah Archibald and gain a different insight into military life,” Sienna added. Other students described being inspired by Mark Archibald’s leadership and determination:“Mark’s motto was lead by example. He always seemed to put others first,” said Luke and Hunter.“Mark Archibald was inspiring, teaching me that if you put your heart into your dreams then you can make them happen,” Skye shared.“It was an honour to hear Mark Archibald share his experiences and insights from his time in the Australian Army. His stories reminded us of the dedication and courage of those who have served our country,” Eleni added.
Students will now honour these veterans by crafting their biographies, which will be presented back to them in Term 3. This meaningful project allows students to reflect on the courage and dedication of those who have served.
