College pride shines in AFL, international football, and singing talent

John Paul College students have recently showcased exceptional talent and dedication across multiple disciplines, highlighting the broad range of skills and passions within our school community. Their achievements span sports, international competitions, and the arts, each demonstrating not only individual prowess but also a commitment to excellence.

Darcy and Jackson named in the Victoria Country Under 16s AFL Development Squad

Darcy (Year 10) and Jackson (Year 11) were selected for the Victoria Country Under 16s squad for the 2024 Marsh AFL National Development Championships, where their team won the championship. Earlier in the year, they impressed as part of the Dandenong Stingrays Under 16s team, leading to their selection for the Vic Country trials and subsequent team. Both have been playing footy since young ages, with dreams of reaching the AFL. This achievement highlights their hard work and the added joy of sharing it with a schoolmate. Congratulations to Darcy and Jackson.

Izabella represents Victoria at Nike Premier Cup

Izabella (Year 9) had a once-in-a-lifetime experience at the 2024 Nike Premier Cup, an Under-15 Girls tournament held in the USA. As part of a 16-player squad from Football Victoria, she competed against top junior teams from around the world during the six-day event. This opportunity arose through Nike’s partnership with Football Victoria, which has been a strong advocate for Victorian female footballers. Izabella and her teammates gained invaluable experience and made lasting memories while proudly representing Football Victoria on an international stage.

Annabella - Cultures of China Water Cube Cup in Melbourne

Annabella (Year 7) recently earned second place in the teenager category of the Cultures of China Water Cube Cup; an international singing competition held in Melbourne. Her achievement was rewarded with a trophy, a certificate, and an all-expenses-paid trip to Beijing to attend a music camp, where she’ll also compete in the finals and perform at the iconic Beijing Water Cube stadium. Annabella also recently took first place in the teenager category of the Music Singapore 2024 International Competition, also in Melbourne. This victory comes with another trophy, a certificate, and an invitation to Singapore to participate in the finals and other performances.
