The John Paul College Italy Cultural Trip offered students an extraordinary exploration of Italy's vibrant culture and history.
The adventure began in Rome, where students immersed themselves in the city's rich history, visiting landmarks such as the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and the Colosseum. Students had the opportunity to explore the Vatican’s treasures, including the Sistine Chapel and learn about the intricate art that sets apart this museum from all others around the world.
From Rome, they travelled to the region of Campania, discovering the ancient ruins of Pompeii, the beautiful Sorrento and the stunning island of Capri. The trip continued with a visit to Assisi's St. Francis’ Basilica right before the feast day of Italy’s Patron Saint, and students had the opportunity to attend a community celebration of religion, culture and history.
On the way to Florence, the tour stopped over in San Gimignano, home of beautiful medieval architecture, and arguably the world’s best gelato, before stopping by in Pisa to snap some iconic photos by the Leaning Tower. In Florence, students immersed themselves in the culture of jewellery, leather and food, as well as the rich Renaissance history that this city has to offer – Medici Palace, Uffizi Gallery, Boboli Gardens and more. The journey then took them to Venice, with a stop in Verona to see Juliet’s famous balcony. After a tour of Venice’s historic landmarks and a captivating glass-blowing demonstration, it was time to end the day with a gondola ride to bid farewell to our temporary home.
This cultural adventure truly brought Italy's history, art, and beauty to life for the students.
