Earlier this year, the Year 12 VCE VM students at John Paul College had the privilege of meeting four Vietnam War veterans: Brendan Kincade, Kevin Hillier, Lee Andrews, and John Symons. The veterans shared their experiences and insights, aiming to educate the students about the ANZAC spirit and the futility of war. Through these discussions, they emphasised the significance of leadership and teamwork, imparting valuable life lessons.
The students undertook the meaningful task of documenting these veterans' stories, resulting in a series of biographies that have now been published on the Virtual War Memorial Australia. This project has not only allowed the students to deepen their understanding of history but also to contribute to the preservation of these important personal accounts for future generations.
It is a significant achievement for the students to have their work featured on the Virtual War Memorial Australia, and an honour for John Paul College to be part of preserving such essential historical records. The biographies of Brendan Kincade, Kevin Hillier, Lee Andrews, and John Symons stand as a testament to the dedication and effort of the students and teachers involved. The entries were organised by teacher Nicole Scott, who collated the students' work.
