Year 12 VM students engage in practical learning experiences

05 December 2024

Year 12 VCE VM students recently participated in two engaging incursions: a go-kart building challenge that developed teamwork and leadership skills, and road safety training focused on crash risks and post-crash actions.

Building Skills Through Go-Kart Challenges
Year 12 VCE VM students recently participated in an engaging incursion with Supreme Incursions, focusing on teamwork as part of their Unit 3 Personal Development Skills. Working in groups with minimal instructions, students constructed go-karts and raced them in a friendly competition. Adding to the challenge, groups were tasked with dismantling the go-karts as quickly as possible and later building cars using wooden pieces and bolts.

This hands-on experience provided a fun and interactive way for students to develop and demonstrate teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Reflecting on the activity, Finn (Year 12) shared, “It was a fun, exciting experience, and I would love for them to come back.”

Crash Risks and Road Safety Training
Year 12 students also completed a Unit of Competency on ‘Recognise Motor Vehicle Crash Risks and Post Crash Actions’ with Intelligent Training Solutions.

This training emphasised the importance of road safety, with students learning about factors contributing to crashes and demonstrating practical responses to post-crash scenarios. The session aimed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills to promote safer driving practices.

These immersive activities highlight the diverse and practical learning opportunities available to VCE VM students, preparing them with valuable life skills and fostering their personal growth.
