Tom Senior has been awarded Excellence in History Education

18 March 2024

The College is thrilled to announce that our Head of Senior School Learning, Tom Senior, has been honoured with the History Teachers' Association of Victoria award for Excellence in History Education by a Secondary Teacher.

Tom's passion, dedication, and commitment to teaching has not only inspired his students but also his fellow colleagues. His collaborative efforts and innovative approaches in History has truly made a difference in our College community.

Tom's enthusiasm for teaching, support for his colleagues, and dedication to professional development, makes him a well deserved recipient of the award.

Please join us in congratulating Tom on this outstanding achievement!

I am very grateful and feel incredibly humbled in receiving this award. History is an exciting subject and I am fortunate to be able to spend my days talking about something I enjoy! I have so much fun seeing students get excited by the topics we cover as they discover their own joy in learning and being curious about the past. I would like to thank Christi Kane and Kaity Bell who nominated me, and I would like to thank all of the staff at JPC who put so much time and effort into creating engaging learning environments for our students – it is the entire school culture that has made it possible for me to try different things in the History classroom to engage students.
